Elk Grove High School wins Gordon D. Schaber Mock Trial Competition

Congratulations to the 2014 Gordon D. Schaber Sacramento County Mock Trial winners, Elk Grove High School!  EGHS out-competed 19 other teams from 16 high schools in Sacramento, El Dorado, and Yolo counties to retain its 2013 title in a back to back win – the team’s 12th win since 1991.  They will now advance to the state level competition, held in San Jose from March 21 to 23, 2014.

The Mock Trial competition simulates a legal trial in which students act as attorneys, witnesses, bailiffs, jurors, and more before a single presiding judge and two scoring judges.  Volunteers from local law firms and legal organizations serve as coaches and judges to the various teams.  Our firm has a personal connection to the EGHS team: Rad|Kro’s Jenni Harmon was on the team during her own high school years growing up in Elk Grove, and she returned to serve as an attorney coach after she passed the bar exam.

We’ll be cheering the team on next week at the state level competition!
